Ways to keep your business travelers on track!

If your company has frequent global business travelers—or if you travel frequently yourself—you will want to make sure your phone can support you while you travel.  Great travel apps can make all the difference.  Here are a few of the best.

Concur

The Concur mobile travel and expense app offers a variety of business intelligence, travel, expense and invoice-related solutions.  This free app is considered by many to be the gold standard for travel expense tracking.  Business travelers can snap photos of receipts, and file for reimbursements while on the go.

DocuSign

The DocuSign electronic signature app allows professionals to take important contracts with them on the road.  This is a simple way to electronically sign and return documents from almost anywhere, using practically any device.  Documents are encrypted when they’re sent, adding a layer of security for highly sensitive information.

GateGuru

Unfamiliar airports can be hard to navigate, but not if you have GateGuru. This app provides detailed information to help you make it to your plane on time. GateGuru features comprehensive information on thousands of major airports, including maps, the distance between gates and baggage claims, and a list of amenities. There’s even a real-time estimation of how long it will take to get to your gate that factors in wait times and expected delays.

Google Translate

Translators are invaluable for navigating countries in which you are not familiar with the language; however, they may not always be available. If you find yourself up against a language barrier abroad,Google Translate can help.  The free Google Translate app is available on Android and iOS mobile devices and offers translation to and from more than 100 languages. You can speak, write, type, or snap since Google Translate integrates with your device’s camera and microphone.

WiFi Map

You will want to stay connected during your travels, and easily locate free Wi-Fi spots in your area by using WiFi Map. Each hotspot is crowdsourced by its community who can report new spots, rate the internet quality and even list the password. This app claims to contain the location of more than 100,000,000 Wi-Fi hotspots all across the world. The app is free, but there is a paid version without advertising available.  As always, use caution when accessing an unsecured WiFi network.

XE Currency

When traveling abroad, converting currency on the go is easy with the XE Currency app.  This app offers live proprietary exchange rates and historical charts.  It also stores the last updated rates so it works when the Internet doesn’t.

Global Business Traveler Center

This new business traveler solution by Living Abroad offers detailed and necessary travel information on 150 destinations.  While it’s not an app, it’s formatted to any device.  Information includes social protocol and business etiquette plus safety, security, getting around, and tipping guides.
