Reflections from EuRA and FEM Americas Summit
I’ve just returned from the EuRA Conference and FEM Americas Summit, where navigating global uncertainty emerged as a central theme. At each event, critical attention was given to the dual challenges of supporting both mobility professionals and the assignees they serve.
EuRA: Focus on Mobility Professionals
EuRA’s rebranding placed the “u” as the focus this year, highlighting mental health for mobility professionals themselves. Sessions covered managing remote team wellbeing, emotional resilience techniques, and finding daily joy. The frank discussions about burnout prevention reflected an important shift in our professional culture—acknowledging that we can only support others effectively when we’re at our best.
FEM Summit Highlights
The Summit opened with economist Matthew Schoeppner of U.S. Bank sharing optimistic news that we’re not in a recession, alongside discussions on tax regulations and trade agreements affecting global mobility. Attendees gained practical strategies for enhancing mobility programs and positioning them as organizational drivers.
The Global Mobility Student Case Competition showcased a solution to an industry challenge through an innovative solution from 3 teams, while Living Abroad supported a roundtable on mental wellbeing during global transitions, exploring how mental health initiatives boost awareness, engagement, and cross-cultural understanding.
Living Abroad was honored to receive an EMMA for International Health, Wellbeing, or Security Management Provider of the Year, recognizing our team’s dedication to providing essential relocation resources.
Moving Forward
As we navigate uncertainty, these conferences remind us that collaboration is key. Whether through local professional groups or company networks, connecting with peers and experts helps us all thrive in challenging times.
I met many fantastic professionals at these events. If you’d like to continue this collaboration, Living Abroad is hosting the NYC Chapter of FEM event on June 4th. Click here to join!
