Saying Goodbye to 2025 – What’s Next?

As 2025 winds down, I find myself doing what I always do this time of year—looking back at what worked, what didn’t, and what I want to carry forward into the new year.

In the international relocation industry, we spend so much time helping other people transition that sometimes we forget to pause and reflect on our own journey. But here we are, at the threshold of 2026, and it feels like a good moment to be honest about what we learned.

Reflecting, 2025 had its challenges. The world kept changing. Visa policies shifted, housing markets fluctuated, new challenges emerged. And as remote work continued to evolve and geopolitical tensions rose, it became clear that what worked for relocating employees a few years ago doesn’t always work now.

So, what are we doing differently?

Making our resources more accessible.

At Living Abroad, we have destination reports on over 240 locations—an incredible resource. This year reinforced that having great content is just the beginning. Delivering it in ways that truly connect with people is what matters most. In 2026, we want to focus on how people use the information. What do they need first? What answers longer-term needs? How do we guide them through the information without overwhelming them?

Listening to what people really need.

Every person relocating has their own priorities—some need housing details; others are worried about schools or healthcare. In 2026, we want to understand those individual needs better and point people to exactly what matters most to them.

Staying current and relevant.

Our commitment is to keep our 240 destination reports as up-to-date and useful as possible, reflecting the real-world changes happening in each location.

Getting comfortable with uncertainty.

For assignees, living abroad means embracing the unexpected. Our reports provide the essential information to help them prepare, but every relocation is unique. Our content is the foundation, not a rigid roadmap.

The reason Living Abroad exists is because people are willing to take brave steps into new chapters of their lives. Supporting them with the best destination information available is what drives us, and I can’t wait to see what 2026 brings.

Here’s to a year of growth, insight, and possibility!
